Adam’s Journey

Group Engineering manager, Adam Fawcett

I joined the business back in 2014 as a VDA for our largest site in Redhill. After a year in this position, I had a serious motorbike accident which saw me hospitalised for a short while. Once I came out of hospital, I couldn’t return to work straight away so the management team found a solution and set me up to work from home whilst I made my recovery. During this time, the business was changing and the central teams were being developed. This fitted in well with me working at home. When I came back, we began setting up the central engineering team for our ABL sites as we could see the benefit the team were having on the 1 Touch centers.

Fast forward a year to 2016 and we had a small team where I got my first promotion and became the Team Leader.

In 2017 it was decided that the two engineering teams for both ABL and 1 Touch would be merged to gain consistency and sustainability across the business for now and to handle the future growth that we were to embark on. This was when I was interviewed for the role of Group Engineering Manager. I was successful in the interview and gratefully took the promotion and the challenge to bring the teams together, although still in separate locations. This was a great learning experience for me and something I really took to with the support of the senior management team.

I have had an amazing journey with ABL 1 Touch so far, although starting off being a bit unpredictable due to my accident, the business and the leaders stood by me and supported me at a time of real uncertainty even after not being with the business for a great deal of time.

Then, to recognise my talents and strengths, and to push me and my personal growth even further, with the task of linking two teams to work alongside each other, and then to expand it in conjunction with the business growth.

ABL 1 Touch truly is a fantastic company that supports its staff and pushes them to grow whilst also being a pleasant and great environment to work in. Without their encouragement and support in the beginning, I couldn’t say what I would be doing today.
